Hello Dr. My daughter she is 14 years old and in 10th class.. and she has a bad habit of bed-wetting ... we can't afford that we can go to any doctor. So is there any home remedies or something.. please tell me.. m worried :(

Dear Neha, unfortunately there are not a lot of 'successful' home remedies out there when in comes to treating children's bedwetting. The best approach to the treatment of bedwetting is the conditioning alarm. Bedwetting alarms work by setting off an alarm when your daughter starts to wet, waking her up so that he gets up and goes to the toilet. Over a period of time this conditions the body into recognizing the signs of a full bladder, your daughter will eventually learn to wake on her own without the need for the alarm. The success of the alarm does depend on the level of support you receive, so it is really important that you do not continue to try and manage this on your own. If cost is a factor I would recommend speaking with your GP as to whetehr there are any financial support schemes available to you. Alarms are also available for hire, which can present a more affordable option. Your daughter will continue to wet the bed at night until she either learns to wake in response to a full bladder or her bladder learns to hold onto the amount of urine her kidneys produce overnight. You can certainly try and help your daughter by ensuring she drinks water regularly throughout the day, tapering off in the evening. Avoid food and drink high in caffeine, such as chocolate and soft-drinks, as these tend to stimulate the kidneys into producing more urine. Ensure she does not get over-tired as this wil make it even harder for her to wake in response to a full bladder. All the best! Regards, Dr Cathrine
