Is it normal for my almost 11 year old to still wet the bed occasionally? I have tried everything I can think of to help her stop but it still seems to happen. Is there anything else you can suggest to help her stop wetting the bed

While it is true that some children outgrow bedwetting on their own, the older your child, the less likely they will be able to become dry on their own. If you have not done so already, I would strongly encourage you to speak with a doctor who may first decide to run some tests and then will be able to discuss with you different treatment options. One form of treatment that is very successful is the conditioning alarm; with lots of children becoming dry at night after using this. It works like an alarm that makes a loud noise to wake children up when they begin to pass urine. Treatment can take between 3 and 6 months and it is not uncommon for children to experience one or two relapses before achieving permanent continence. The bedwetting alarm also tends to be produce better outcomes for children who experience less frequent wetting like your daughter. It is of course a demanding treatment and it is strongly advised to introduce this alongside the support of a continence advisor. All the best! Kind Regards, Dr Cathrine
